One of Them "I Wonders"

I just mailed in my quarterly tax payment to the IRS.

Why the hell do I have to put a 39 cent stamp on an envelope containing a check with a comma in the total that's going to the U.S. government anyway?! You'd think they could print a damn SASE.

I'm feeling extremely Libertarian today.

I feel a little smile on my face.

Personally the one thing that I've NEVER understood is the franking privilege. I get that it's good for a Congressional rep to be able to send free mail to his/her constituents, but I've always thought it a wee bit backward. Shouldn't ALL correspondence TO representatives be franked as well? I mean, aren't they there to do the will of the people? So shouldn't the will of the people be able to be transmitted without additional surcharges imposed?

Personally I think all correspondence to government entities should be included in the franking exemption. You should just be able to write "Official Business of the U.S. Govt." and be done with it.

My plan to balance the national debt is to print a stamp that weighs more than an ounce.

Don't ever vote for me!

Since it's an estimated payment, I'd never trust them to apply it toward next year's bill. They'd probably just buy some $1500 toilet with it.
